HP Photosmart D110a Quick Fix

Device drivers are very important for all devices to function properly, and there are different approach to fix this issue some are long but there are short and effective.


New HP Photosmart printer D110a. Wireless, print up to 29 pages per minute in black and 23 in color, 2.36” color display with TouchSmart frame, printing from mobile devices. These are amazing features of this new printer from HP, pretty awesome! With these functionalities you can only imagine the how this machine would communicate to your computer.

Like other computer devices, this printer will communicate to our computer via device driver. This printer being an all-in-one device would mean driver for printer, scanner, copier, fax, and wireless connectivity must be installed first before this functionality will work. It sounds a lot of confusing installation but the good news is HP made a complete package of driver for all these functionalities and it comes in a single easy executable installer.

Ideally, upon execution of the installer every functionality would function as expected. However that is not always the case. Yes sometimes it fails. Below are list of causes for this malfunctions.
1. Driver installer is corrupted.
2. Driver conflict. This usually happen when you have multiple similar devices installed on your computer.
3. Windows version incompatibility. We must be aware of your device Operating System’s compatibility.
4. Corrupted system files.

In any case your printer is not working as it should you may try below quick fixes.

Below repair assumes that the device is in good condition and only driver and management tool (software) are the issues.

Repair option 1: Download new driver and software for you device
1. On your browser go to http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=4023246&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&task=〈=en&cc=us this is HP’s support page for D110a printer model.
2. Click “Software & Driver Downloads”. Step one: Select your operating system page will open.
3. Select your operating system version from the drop down menu, then click “Next” button. Step two: Select a download page will open.

Note: In this selection “Order Physical Media – CD/DVDs”, “Updates”, and “Utility – Diagnostic Tools” are also available for download.

4. Select driver or software you want to download. Choose “Driver – Product Installation Software”. This option includes “HP Photosmart Basic Drivers” and “HP Photosmart Full Feature Software and Drivers”
5. In this case choose “HP Photosmart Full Feature Software and Drivers” which include all files you need.
6. Click “Download” button.
7. Download pop up windows will open, choose “Save File” button then browse your local drive where you want to save the file.
8. Click “Save” download will start.

Driver Installation
9. Open the folder where you have downloaded the driver file.
10. Execute the file by double clicking it.
11. Follow the installation procedure until you get the “Finish” button. You may have to reboot your computer depending on your operating system version.
12. Test the device.

Repair option 2: Manual Installation of drivers
Drivers are usually replaced when drivers are installed however there are times you need to manually uninstall the driver to give way to the new one.
1. Go to Windows Device Manager, go to Start >> Run, then type-in “devmgmt.msc”
2. Click OK, Device manager will open.
3. Expand Printer from the list of devices. You should see D110a printer from the list.
4. Right click the printer and then choose “Uninstall”. You may have to reboot your computer depending on the version of your operating system.
5. Your computer will automatically detect the printer. At this point your printer must be turned on.
6. Auto detection will allow user to install the driver. Browse the driver installer you have download and continue the installation.
7. Complete the installation and test you printer.

Repair option 3: Driver Installation using Driver Updater tool
This procedure is extremely easy and effective, this is what I use.
1. Download driver here: HP Printer Drivers
2. Install the file.
3. Click Scan. The tool will check all your drivers and look for better version available in its database and or from the web. This will happen in just one click of Scan button.
